To Our Families & Coaches: Bring Your Training Home

Pocket Radar® | Santa Rosa, CA –In these uncertain times the team at Pocket Radar is dedicated to helping people stay safe and continue playing the sport they love. While nothing can bring back the lost practices, games, tournaments and recruiting showcases, we are committed to making sure there are still opportunities and resources available to continue to develop your skills and get recruited.

Our new Bring Your Training Home initiative will provide education and resources to help families and individuals remotely train, develop and be seen at home with video analysis tools. The Smart Coach App System, with its unique ability to automatically capture videos with embedded velocities, allows you to continue to work remotely with your coaches and participate in recruiting/scouting activities. Immediate video and velocity feedback, while training on your own at home, has been shown to result in an accelerated improvement of skills.

Bring Your Training Home:

  • Train at Home Video Series: Athletes and coaches have discovered over the years that the Smart Coach App System is not only great for use on the field at practices and games, or indoors at training academies, but it is also an essential training tool for development at home in the backyard or in the garage. We are working to provide new content to help you understand how simple it is to train at home and measure your progress as you develop your skills.
  • Remote Coaching and Training: Not only is training with video analysis a powerful development tool, it is also a method of being seen remotely. The Smart Coach Radar System allows you to record videos with speeds directly embedded inside.  Share these videos with coaches and scouts and post them to social media for extra recruiting visibility through accounts like @FlatgroundApp on Twitter.  As a premier provider of training tools, Pocket Radar is working with many top training programs, including Driveline Baseball with their TRAQ system, to help athletes train and develop at home. Make sure you are also following our social media channels, as we will begin rolling out new creative ways to help you be seen and help teach others how they can adapt during these challenging times. We will be offering rewards for the best results.
  • Educational Webinar Series:We are committed to providing top level education from some of the leading minds in the sports community. We are planning to provide webinars in the coming weeks to address questions surrounding the current atmosphere and how best to utilize time spent training at home.

The Pocket Radar team is committed to providing innovative solutions for your training needs while practicing safe social distancing.  We want you to know that our team is here for you and available to answer any questions you may have as we all continue to make the best of our current situation.

Great question Bryan. The radar is designed to measure the fastest speed of a ball in flight. So it will always measure the pitch speed first, and will only measure the exit velo if it is a higher speed. This is the case normally with line drives back up the middle. Even though an exit velo may be higher, if it leaves the beam too quickly going to left field or right field, it won’t register. That is why it is more important to focus on capturing exit velo in a controlled environment. Thanks, Tyler

Is there a best practice in order to use the Smart Coach in a live game and get both the velo of the pitch and the outgoing hit? Used it yesterday and didn’t get any exit velo, only got the pitches. Thanks.

I grandson for ha bday keeps telling me he would live some sort of radar gun. My two grandsons play travel baseball and they are very competitive with each other. This will settle all arguments, once and for all. Lol. Serious note I don’t know much about what they are looking for. I do know that they are looking for exit velocity and off the mound. Please lmk what I need or that you suggest. If you could add a link in your response that would be great. I will directly from you as long as you don’t ship through Amazon. Thx J

Hello Jorge,

Thank you for the question. Yes, the Smart Coach Radar has flexible power options including the ability to be powered via a USB power pack. The port on the side is micro-USB.
