Pocket Radar’s Ball Coach™ model has been named the Official Radar Gun of the National Teams program, to help provide speed measurement for their coaching and training.
March 29, 2017 –
(Santa Rosa, CA) Softball Canada and Pocket Radar, Inc. are extremely pleased to announce a new and exciting partnership. As a Partner of Softball Canada’s CANpitch program, Pocket Radar’s Ball Coach™ model has also been named the Official Radar Gun of the National Teams program, to help provide speed measurement for their coaching and training. The Canadian National Softball Teams are recognized as one of the top teams in the world in all four international softball categories, while CANpitch is a development program that introduces and develops the fundamental skills of windmill pitching to Canada’s children and youth.
“Throughout our discussions with Pocket Radar, they showed strong interest in our great development programs and we saw a great fit utilizing their Ball Coach radar with our CANpitch and National Team programs” stated Gilles LeBlanc, Manager of Marketing and Communications at Softball Canada. “We are thrilled to partner with a company that shares our passion for softball and we look forward to working with them on other exciting developments in the near future.”
The Ball Coach radar is a pro-level radar gun and speed-training tool for player coaching or self-guided drills, with hands-free operation keeping it simple. Because of its discreet and convenient size, coaches and parents are able to analyze player tendencies without affecting behavior. By measuring crucial results like pitching speeds, Ball Exit Speed off the bat (also referred to as Exit Velocity) and position player throwing velocities, training with the Ball Coach radar helps athletes get better, faster.
“We are very excited to partner with Softball Canada’s CANpitch and National Team programs. We view it as a great opportunity for us to introduce our Ball Coach radar to some of the best coaches and athletes in the world,” said Steve Goody, CEO and co-founder of Pocket Radar, Inc. “The CANpitch program provides top notch training to pitchers throughout each province and territory, and it is an honor to help the National Teams continue to improve by training with our technology.”
Launched in 2011, Softball Canada’s CANpitch program has reached over 10,000 aspiring pitchers through six-week training clinics. Softball Canada has assembled a network of Master Pitching Instructors (MPI) and Regional Pitching Instructors (RPI) in each province who teach a nationally standardized curriculum founded in Long Term Player Development(LTPD) principles that reflects an athlete-centered approach to learning.
The Canadian National Team program is currently ranked third in the World in Women’s Softball and fourth in Men’s Softball. Recent WBSC Softball World Championship results include a Gold medal for the Men’s team and fourth place finish for the Junior Women’s team in 2015; and Bronze medals for the Women’s and Junior Men’s teams in 2016. Both the Men’s and Women’s teams also won Gold at the 2015 Pan American Games.
