The Pocket Radar team would like to send congratulations to Russ Rose and the Penn State women’s volleyball team on their Division 1 championship run this past December. It was exciting seeing the 2 teams competing in the national final, Wisconsin and Penn State, both proud Pocket Radar users. Penn State has built quite the dynasty, having won five of the previous seven national championships. It is also Rose and Penn State’s sixth Div. 1 national championship, tied with Stanford for most all-time Div. 1, and makes Rose the first coach to win 6 national titles. Rose was also honored with the 2013 AVCA National Coach of the Year award, the fifth-time he has received the award.
Being a championship caliber coach requires hard work, determination, and a willingness to learn. Russ Rose exemplifies these qualities and it has shown with him winning his sixth national championship at the helm of Penn State women’s volleyball the past 35 seasons. He is second all-time in wins, only five behind the number one spot entering next season, and his winning percentage ranks first.
Rose is also a proud supporter of the Pocket Radar Classic, and has been using one with his team in practice the past couple of years. Here is what he has to say about how the Classic is a powerful training tool:
