by Tyler Scaturro July 12, 2017

Pocket Radar sits down with Jason Sekany, Owner of Total Player Center (Livermore, CA), for an in depth interview about his incorporation of the Ball Coach radar in his facility.  Not only is it a valuable tool for providing instant objective feedback for athletes to get better faster, but it is also a helpful tool for him to evaluate staff and training techniques.

In the 7 part video series, Jason discusses a wide variety of topics, ranging from the influx of technology in baseball over recent years (exit velocity), to the new ways that radar is being utilized (an injury prevention tool to monitor fatigue).  Below, are brief descriptions accompanied by each video in the series:

1.  How has adding the Ball Coach radar helped with training sessions?  In this video, Jason discusses how bringing out the Ball Coach radar during training excites the athletes/students and also brings out their competitive nature to improve their numbers.

2.  Why is objective feedback valuable from a training and business standpoint?  In this video, Jason discusses how instant objective feedback from the Ball Coach radar is valuable for training and demonstration purposes.

3.  What is the advantage to using radar feedback with your facility?  In this video, Jason discusses discusses the advantages of utilizing the Ball Coach radar during training to help athletes get better faster.  It also gives his training center an edge over his competitors in that it helps evaluate staff and training techniques.

4.  Why is it important to have a product that is accurate, discreet and affordable?  In this video, Jason discusses the importance of using professional level equipment when training and why that is so valuable when showcasing improvement over time.  He also tests the Ball Coach radar with a more expensive, bulkier radar gun ($1200 price tag) to show its accuracy, and why the affordability makes it easier to have multiple pieces of equipment in the training center or for athletes to own for home use.

5.  How rugged is the Ball Coach radar and why is that an important feature in a training environment?  In this video, Jason discusses why equipment needs to be rugged in a training center environment and that the Ball Coach radar fits those needs.

6.  How has baseball evolved in recent years with new technology?  In this video, Jason discuss the recent infusion of technology in baseball, not just at the pro level but also at the youth level. He also explains that even though there is still people that fight against the improvement of technology in the game, they need to start taking advantage of it instead.

7.  How can radar be used as a valuable tool for training and monitoring fatigue?  In this video, Jason discusses how using radar as a valuable tool for training and feedback is only going to help athletes and trainers improve.  He also explains other added values, such as monitoring fatigue and arm health in youth athletes to prevent injury.
